    Choosing a Naturtint Permanent Shade
Naturtint can be used to create an endless number of styles and looks, all from the comfort of your own home! The ‘Shadow Color Technique’ and ‘Graduation Color’ tutorial videos below demonstrate just two of the looks that can be achieved by blending colors and shades!
    Darker
    - Can go as dark as you like. If you are undecided between 2 colors, go for the lighter shade as it is easier to go darker if the shade isn't exactly right, than to try and color lighter.
    Lighter -
Naturtint can only lighten hair by one or two shades. For example, if a person's hair color is a 6N (see Fig. 1 & 2 below), then they should not use a colorant lighter than an 8N, 8C or 8G. If you have very grey or white hair, it is best to avoid 10N & 10A (unless mixed with other colors) as they are too light to produce a significant color change.
    Covering Grey -
Very resistant grey will require 40 minutes development time and the 'Natural' colors are usually the most suitable. Brighter tones such as the Mahogany and Copper tones should be mixed with a Natural tone if applied to grey or white hair. Lighter tones can look more flattering against our skin tone as we age, so don't be afraid to go a shade lighter than your natural color once was.
    Ash Tones -
Shouldn't generally be used on their own unless you want to tone down hair color, i.e. if a light shade has gone too yellow, orange, brassy, golden, reddish. Otherwise they should be used as "mixer" tone to prevent these unwanted warm tones.
    Common Blends -
When using 'Natural' shades, if you tend to go too red, golden, brassy, or yellow then blend in an 'Ash' color. For example with 6N, 7N, 8N use 8A or with 9N or 10N, use 10A. To tone down Mahogany (4M, 5M and 7M) colors or if you are using these shades on grey hair, mix with similar number of a Natural color. To mellow Coppers (5C, 7C and 8C) or if you are using these shades on grey hair, mix with similar number of a 'Natural' color
    Color Guidance & Mixing
Most of the Naturtint shades are given a code consisting of a number and then a letter. The number tells you how light or dark a shade is, with 1 being the darkest and 10 the lightest (see Fig. 1). The letter after the number indicates the kind of tone you can expect from the color (see Fig. 2).
The most recent and contemporary 5 shades: 9.31 Sandy Blonde, 7.7 Teide Brown, 7.46 Arizona Copper, 6.66 Fireland, and 2.1 Blue-Black, plus the Naturtint Reflex shades use a slightly different coding system. The 1st number indicates how dark/light the shade is, the 2nd number indicates the secondary color (if applicable) used to produce the shade and the 3rd number is a reference to the addition of a 'splash' of a third color (see Fig. 3). For example, the 7.46 is the same depth of tone as a 7N or a 7G, but the additional colors are copper, with a hint of red.
    SUGGESTED USE
Preparing the Naturtint Hair Coloring Mixture
    • Put on the single-use gloves.
    • Put Naturtint™ colorant into the color developer application bottle. During warm weather, it is recommended that you mix the treatment in a plastic or glass bowl. Never mix in a metal container.
    • Remove the tip of the lid. Place gloved finger over tip and shake the bottle for 2 minutes until the mixture is well blended.
    • IMMEDIATELY apply the entire mixture. Do not keep the bottle closed, in any case.
    • If you only require part of the kit, mix needed amount in a glass or plastic bowl, never in the color developer application bottle or a metal container. Unmixed portions may be capped and stored for future use.
    CAUTION
: This product contains ingredients which may cause skin irritation on certain individuals. The skin sensitivity test should first be performed before each product use. This product is not intended for use on eyebrows or eyelashes; to do so may cause irritation or injury. Handle the bottle carefully. Do not press or squeeze the bottle unless the tip has been removed. Aim the bottle away from the face when opening and during use. Never leave the tip on after mixing the product because the container may burst. Immediately use the product; do not save any unused mixture.
How to Apply Naturtint Hair Coloring
    • Cover shoulders with a towel to protect clothing from stains or wear an old T-shirt.
    • Starting from the roots, evenly apply the mixture to unwashed, dry hair. Massage or comb colorant through the hair, applying the remainder of the product to the ends.
    Development Time
    a.
On previously uncolored hair: Evenly distribute the mixture through the hair and wait 30 minutes. To achieve more intense color or to cover stubborn grays, extend the development time for a total of up to 40 minutes.
    b.
For root touch-up: Apply the mixture to the roots and leave it on for 20 minutes. Then apply color to the rest of the hair and leave it on for another 10 minutes. Total application time: 30 minutes. To cover stubborn grays, extend the development time for a total of up to 40 minutes.
    • Discard any unused mixture.
